Course Description:

This course discusses Universal Design for Learning and an understanding of sensory processing. In any learning environment, the goal of teaching is to reach each student in a consequential manner to provide genuine learning opportunities for all while considering the diversity of learners. Adaptive riding instructors need to adapt their teaching methodologies to meet the unique learning styles of every rider, whether due to challenges in motor skills, differences in learning styles or communication, sensory processing differences, or emotional states.

Course Objectives:

  1. Be able to identify the three elements of Universal Design in Learning
  2. Recognize the connections between UDL and Adaptive Riding
  3. Explore relationships between action and environment for lesson planning
  4. Understand the significance of connections between sensory processing, UDL, and lesson planning
